Maze is a small village located in the mid of Japan, Gifu prefecture and so close to famous tourist places such as Takayama and Gero Hot Spa.
Since local people have tried hard to preserve landscape of natural beauty and develop regional goodies, Maze is certified as a member of nonprofit organization “The most beautiful villages in Japan” and as one of Savor Japan areas by Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan.
Actually, it’s the only one place in Japan which has both certifications.
The best feature of Maze is the untouched beauty of nature including Maze river and luxuriant forests.
The river is one of the few clear stream in Japan, which creates fragrant fish: sweetfish and very flesh vegetables.
Especially, the fish growing up in Maze river is known as the best in Japan.
While Maze is a hidden scenic place for tourists with no convenience store even nor traffic light, it’s easy to reach from major tourist spots such as Nagoya and Takayama so you can readily enjoy Japan’s virgin landscape and local cuisine.
Nowadays, we’re trying to create unique activities which tourists can interact with local citizens deeper.
